Earning Rep and Hard Cash.. Thanks Argent Tournament

Oh sure I have been raiding Ulduar almost everyday and have finally seen Mimiron die a horrible death.. thank god... but what have I been focusing on most? My goal everyday is to make sure I get my Argent Tournament quests every day. I am working on my last horde faction which is Undercity and it will be finished today. Each of my characters have their own thing that they collect or do and my pally is my pet collector. She is close to 75 pets and she still does not have any of the world drop pets. I am going to work on that once I finally get all the Argent pets I will have to start working on grinding some pets. Grinding? Yeah I have this phobia of spending my gold on something I can go and grind for myself free of charge. I might change my mind if I can stand to keep doing the Tournament quests beyond getting my own pets because they are BOE and are selling for upwards of 4k gold on the cross faction AH.

I have now tanked and healed all the bosses thru Mimiron and attempted to tank the General for the first time last night. Some my officers get a little touchy about the issue of alts because so many of us have a whole stable of alts and they feel it dilutes the gear. They can't give me a hard time because A.) I am the GM and I will kick them and B.) I have a tank and healer who just happen to be some of our best geared and I tend to not suck. Sure I have 4 other dps characters that used to continually try to gear but I have pretty much given that up. I finally broke down and dual specced Remy my forever protection paladin as ret and I finally have a decent dps character that will finally get into raids.

Mimi you will be mine!

I have been extremely busy this last week! Between raiding Ulduar 25, Ulduar 1o and Naxxramas 25 this week I have had more than my fill of raiding. Last night was the pinnacle of the week. My 10 man group had Mimiron into phase 4 and at least one of his parts down to 10%. I think this next week we can kick him to the curb. Our 25 man progression is just one boss short of our 10 man progression so things are really looking up. I also decided I would bite the bullet and dual spec my protection Pally to retribution so we can dps when she is not needed to tank. She has a full holy set but I have a holy priest already so I don't see the point of two healers.

I had been playing the AH a bit on my baby shammy but I have been so busy I haven't touched her in at least a week. She is on schedule to have her epic flying mount money before she hits Outland. My priest is on schedule to get her Violet Protodrake when Brewfest rolls around this spring and my pally has a pet collection to work on with both Children's Week and the Argent Tournament going on. She has her first tourney pet, a little mulgore hatchling that likes to do his roadrunner impression every once in a while. I am hoping to get my hands on some of the alliance pets but I will be patient and wait for the price to come down from 4k or higher.

What is my favorite spot in game?
There is a little fishing hole with a water fall and a little camp on the West side of Dragonblight that I really for the atmosphere while I get dragonfin for stat food. There is another one on the east side of dragonblight along the river but it is more of an alliance type camp so it lacks atmosphere.

Something that you have to try!
Did you know that there is a in game log ride? In Grizzly Hills at the north logging camp are two ramps with either an orc or an alliance guy standing beside it and some stairs. You talk to these fellows and off you go on a incredible ride that takes you all the way down to Adventure Bay. This maybe the funnest thing I have ever found in game.

FOR THE HORDE!

Starting to Get the Hang of it

I have been spending most nights in Ulduar either healing or tanking. We have been doing more 10 mans to get people acquainted with the fights. That endeavor has been going well and I hope that translates to a better 25 man Ulduar this weekend. Most of the fights are not technically that difficult but they all have a positioning requirements and area awareness. Once people get the hang of where they should be and when things seem to go pretty smoothly. Razorscale is one fight that has random unavoidable deaths when the same person is fireballed back to back and Hodir has a similar issue when you get two caves ins on the same person. The Cave ins are avoidable because there is a falling snow indication but it is sometimes very hard to tell where that snow is actually falling.

I am tanking 25 mans and healing 10 mans. I have been adjusting to the changes they did to priest healing but so far it feels like the changes were for the best. I am back to topping the healing charts. The 10 man raids are perfect for our new targetable POH (Prayer of Healing) so that we can quickly heal a whole group at a time. On XT-002 I use POH during the tantrums and it works perfect.

Do you have any hints or tips for priests in Ulduar?

Finished by Mimiron and Ready to Start Over

Well last week was exciting. We skipped Ignis and cleared all the way to Mimiron. Mimiron and his invisible landmines and nasty bombs kept us at bay. We got into phase 3 but that was our breaking point. I feel good about the week because we learned a lot strategies and made a ton of progress. I have to admit that by Friday I was tired of raiding would have been happier to do anything including fishing than my normal tanking or healing. I don't think I will never run 10 man Uld again because the gear was mediocre and I really don't need more badges. I will probably run 25 Uld (on my tank and healer) and dps Naxx 25 on my mage.

What were my favorite Changes this week?
The 10% quest experience increase from the heirloom shoulders... My shammy may actually see 80 some day.
Fishing Daily... It is helping me level fishing on all my characters and I have fished up some fun stuff.
Ulduar bosses... Deconstructor is awesome

What disapointed me this week?
The argent tournement... there should have been more or a variety of quests because I am dead bored of them after only 5 days.
Blizzard stating that Uld 10 would be puggable... Yeah good luck with that. The instance is way to hard for pug groups.

My thoughts on Priest changes...
I got a chance to break out my priest this week in Uld 10 and I must say I am very happy with the priest changes. I miss my out of combat mana regen but my in combat mana regen has gone up so I can't complain much. The new renew is very nice with that up front heal and when it crits I get a free heal. The speedy greater heals were awesome. I am looking forward to see how I do on some of the longer fights.

Ulduar... The Funnest Place on Earth

Our guild decided to try a couple 10 man Ulduar groups last night to help learn fights. We downed a few new bosses starting with Razorscale. Razorscale was fairly easy if you ignore the adds while the boss is attackable and just focus on him. We skipped Ignis due to him being highly bugged at the moment and when straight to XT-002. That was a fun fight just listening to the boss and we found that tanking the big adds and just focusing on dpsing the heart and dowing the little adds quickly worked beautifully. Don't kill the heart because that starts hard mode and you might not be ready for that. Then we got a scare walking into Kologarns room. Whoa is he a big fella. We just dpsed his right arm and him avoiding the eye lasors and that only took a couple attempts. The Iron Counsil was probably the biggest challenge yet but after we figure out all the buffs and debuffs we finally did it.

Looking forward to more bosses tonight!

Kicked out of Ulduar ... Again

This makes the second night in a row that my guild has been booted from Ulduar. I figured it would be spotty but this is a horrible tease. We downed one boss (flame leviathan) last night, even managed to get the heroic shutout achievement for him. After clearing a bit of trash we made our first attempt on Ignis (damn he hits hard) and then we were unable to get back in the instance. Tonight we were making progress on Razorscale but 3 attempts is all we got before we were unable to get back in.

I guess I will go level my shammy while we wait for things to get fixed.

The Long Wait...

Works done... done reading patch notes.... now what? I find myself musing over King Wrynn why he would hate the horde. The Horde had nothing to do with his incarceration or the death of his wife yet he seems to blame the Horde for everything. I think if anything Thrall is a bit of a fluffy bunny. He would happily sign a truce with the alliance make piece for all the lands. It is the Alliance that seems to feel that they must kill all the Horde before they can have peace. Having played both sides with much more time on the Horde side I can honestly say that the Horde is the more peaceful side.

That aside they need to hurry this maintenance up so we can get back to play!

Ulduar here we come!

I picked a bad time to have teeth pulled! The day before the 3.1 patch.... Why me? So When all this cool new stuff if available I will be in a semi-awake state wishing my face had never been born... I think that was the pain killers talking. Any way... I did do a little flask prep run last night and I had already been hording gems and enchanting mats so that when this happened I wouldn't have to go broke trying to deal with new gear. Who will it be Remy (tank) or Luna (heals) that will get to see Ulduar first? I am betting on Remy because good tanks will most likely be harder to find tonight than healers.

What am I looking forward to in 3.1?
Don't laugh.. Fishing anywhere I want to! I have high level fishing on two of my characters but I would love to level it on all of my characters and the only thing holding me back was the though of hanging out in TB or ORG for hours at a time with nothing else to do. Of course the new fishing daily is going to be cool also.
Argent Tournament is going to be big for Remy because she is a pet collector and they have some cool pets!
My first piece of T8!

See you all on the flip side!

Dude? Where's my Noblesgarden?

I am an avid reader and try to keep up to date with all the WoW news so I new at least week ago that they had postponed Noblesgarden to the 26th of April. My mom and other players I know had not seen this news so they thought they were just really sucking at finding eggs this morning. Finally I got a call... " Where did they move the Eggs to?".. I sadly had to inform them that they wouldn't be finding eggs until the new date but they were happy to know they hadn't missed it and that there would be more to do this year. I am personally looking forward to it because LunaFreya is on course to get her Violet Protodrake this fall when Octoberfest rolls around. I personally hope that Ulduar doesn't happen until after Noblesgarden so it doesn't interfere with my holiday fun.

Pre-Patch Boredom

I wish Blizzard would keep patches hidden from us and spring them on us like a surprise gift because as soon as people here there is a big patch coming they immediately stop caring about anything but that upcoming patch. We were tearing up Naxx 25, Maly and multiple drake Sarth and then the patch was announced and now we are lucky if I can get people interested in Naxx 10 or 25. Even I have lost interest because no one else cares at the moment.

It has gotten so bad that I am leveling alliance characters on a friends server. I love leveling but I have all my slots used on Twisting Nether and only 2 of those are low enough that I could make myself delete them so I could roll the newest cool thing that blizzard might give us. I wish they would give leveling addicts like myself some options for moving 80's to other servers when all your slots are filled so I can mostly stay on my favorite server.

Off to play with my new pally and shammy...

Twisting Nether Refugees

Northrend was down last night on Twisting Nether and there were a lot of us in Vent bored out of our skulls. So what did we do? Go roll alliance on another server. We often do this out of boredom when the servers are down. We once all rolled gnomes and I led a charge to Goldshire where we intended to kill Hogger. Funny how that would be so mundane for an alliance but new and fun for the horde. I decided to start a Draenai Shaman because my recent personal goal for WoW is to level a shaman. We were having so much fun we decided to start a guild, Twisting Nether Refugees. Now we all a place to go when our server or major pieces of our server are down.

Remys in the House

Remy is my protection Paladin and I must say she is one of my most fun characters. Tanking? Fun? Hell yes! There is nothing like having a ton of mobs on you letting everyone else go AOE nuts and not a single mob peeling off. The battle for Mount Hyjal was just incredible to tank with all those waves of mobs.

I waited to roll a paladin until the paladin hype died down. I expected to have a ton of 70 paladin's in the guild because quite a few people rolled them right away but people got bored fast. My husband and I had a ball leveling Remy (mine) and Astriana (his) of course we leveled as Protection and Holy. Together there was nothing we couldn't do. We 2 manned all the quests all the way up and gankers got their cookies eaten by us regularly. We had so much fun evertime someone tried to gank us because they couldn't kill us unless they were about 20 levels above us and even then we gave them trouble. Once we hit 70 we quickly moved into top raiding spots. Remy was one of the best geared protection paladins on the server and we actually used her to tank bosses instead of just trash tanking like most of other guilds. I will never forget the night we took a new guild member who was a protection pally who had a lot of T6 and had never main tanked anything and was nervous about tanking Kara.

I admit that pallys were very confusing for people to gear and play but I tried to coach several people and only about 1 in 3 actually got it and became accomplished players. I was actually kind of annoyed when they regeared us for 3.0 but it didn't take me that long get into the hange of taking the warriors gear away from them. Remy's gear is now complete and she is waiting for Ulduar to open so we can go kick som butt. Check her out on the armory if you want to see a well geared Protection Paladin. Feel free to leave me any questions you have about prot pallies.

Preparing for Ulduar

Amangur has done pretty well for its self when it comes to raiding. We have a few very talented players that are consistently good at what they do. We also have some players that can be good players but they have to focus on the task at hand and they don't always seem to be able to do that. Last night was a prime example when after our 3rd wipe on Sarth +2 drakes someone said "OK I will shut off the television". All I could think of was, "Why the hell didn't you shut it off before the raid and we might have been done by now". Then there are the players that just can't get it right. They constantly stand in the circles of death and get hit by the flame waves. My hubby installed a mod called Failbot and had it out put these kind of mistakes into guild. Good thing we are nice about this stuff because on Helgain the Unclean one person was hit by the green goo 26 times. We must have some good healers because they kept him alive. As we head into Ulduar we are going to have to stop coddling the people who just can't help us get the job done. I always want to give people the benifit of the doubt and believe people can be coached into a good proformance but unfortunatley some people have proved me wrong. If people dps or healing stats don't increase with the addition of new gear than they won't coming along with us into Ulduar.

We have decided to open our recruiting again because we need a few more good raiders to take the spots of the non-proformers we have been taking into Naxx and the current 25 mans. We tend to be extrememly casual on our raiding. We don't require you to attend raids and it doesn't effect your ability to get loots. If you think you would be interested in joining the ranks of Amangur raiders than feel free to fill out an application at http://amangur.dkpsystem.com/news.php.

My Responce to "The Instance"

I am a long time listener of "The Instance" and I couldn't help myself but to respond to a discussion they had about mages. They had been hearing that a large number of mages were complaining that the class was no longer a dps powerhouse and were no longer fun to play. I have a mage of my own and I can say without any doubt that they are not hurting for dps output. What I have seen and heard from my guild members and other raiders that I have contact with is that Mages and Shamans are both complaining that they no longer enjoy playing their character or that they can't put out the same amount of damage. The players that are complaining are all lazy players that enjoyed the one button play that they used to have and now they have timers and cooldowns and multiple spells to cast. They will have poor dps if they try to play with the BC play style. Theses players have all migrated to DK's and other classes but they aren't proforming well in any class because Blizzard has made sure no class has a free ride and everyone must watch timers and cast more than one spell. Our guild went thru a period with no mages or Elemental shammies early in WTLK because changes to the play style was just to difficult for many to adjust to. Even my hunter buddies are having a bit of time adjusting to dealing with timers and cooldowns instead of casting macros of old but they are willing to work at it so they can top the dps charts nightly.

I am going to have to put together a list of mods that I use that will help increase your dps. I run a huge number of mods so this might take me a few days.

You have to try the Log Ride

This week I found a little known item in Grizzly Hills! There is a log ride that connects Blue Sky Logging Grounds to Adventure Bay. Remember the ride that connected Skettis to Ogrila? This connects the dailys in Blue Sky to Adventure Bay but it does it with style! I must admit it is a bit nauseating but awesome at the same time.

If you have never been to Grizzly Hills and done the dailys than you are missing some very simple dailys that give Warsong Hold reputation. Ir you are looking for the log ride go to Blue Sky Logging Grounds and there are is an orc for the Horde and a Dwarf for Alliance they are standing on stands that have water hoses pumping water onto wooden chutes. These are near the north part of the grounds.

Remy... Not the Red Headed Step Child

My first paladin was on the alliance side early in the vanilla wow days. In the beggining Paladins were not very well thought out and there was nothing they were good at. It was like being the red headed step child. You were only invited to an instance if there was no one else available. When Paladins became available to Horde I decided I would give it another try. My hubby rolled one at the same time. I went Protection and he went Holy... What a hoot! Usually on a pvp server you are ganked a lot while leveling but we managed to hold our own and I don't remember us dying the entire time we were leveling. Well there was that one time I was 40 against a 65 druid but I almost had her until she rooted me and started moonfiring. I am going to dual-spec holy and prot with her after 3.1 but Protection is my love so that will stay my main spec. I was our guilds first prot pally and I remain our only main spec prot.

Remy is also on Twisting Nether so feel free to check her out on the armory. If you have any questoins about protection paladins please feel free to leave me a question.

Introducing Lunafreya

Luna is the Empress of the Amangur Empire guild on Twisting Nether. With her white hair and wizened troll ways she is a link to the good old RP days of AE (Amangur Empire). Even though she was leveled 1-67 as shadow I collected healing gear and healed instances all along the way. I only specced into holy because it was to difficult healing Heroics as shadow. I have tried going shadow a could times since but I just don't care for it anymore. I would much rather heal. Luna is one of our best geared priests and I until recently was our only holy priest. I have now been joined by Cic who took a couple months off for college and my hubby who converted his shadow priest and may never go back. All 3 of us think healing is more challenging than dps and more enjoyable.

If you have any questions about holy priests or priests in general leave a comment.

Am I addicted to WoW 'cause I have 5 levle 80s?

My rogue just hit 80. That makes 5 level 80s for me.

I had 5 70s when WTLK was launched and it was a fairly hard decision who I would level first My husband and I decided that we would level his feral tank druid and my holy priest together. They were 80 in about a week. We lacked dps to instances with for a few days so we started leveling his Holy and my Prot Pallidans together. Leveling a tank and healer together is a sure way to make sure you can get an instance when ever you want one. I am always in demand whether it is tanking or healing. I get bored easy and I enjoy leveling so I now have an 80 - Holy Priest, Prot Pally, Balance Druid, Frost Fire Mage, and now Mut Rogue.

Not sure who is coming up next...

The Beginning of a Epic Journey

My story starts close to the beginning of WoW. My husband and I had always been gamers. We have played everything from Doom to Diablo to Half-life. All our friends were also computer gamers so we hosted LAN parties quite often and loved the social side of gaming. My brother and a good friend of ours were playing World of Warcraft and had told us a bit about it. We always had 4th of July parties and our friend Josh decided he was going to make us get accounts and give us a crash course in WoW. After a brief stint on a PVP server as Alliance we joined Josh on a RPPVP. Josh was part of a well established pvp guild on the horde side but what hooked us was the relationships we made in Ventrilo. I must admit I was fail at RP but I also learned how fail I was as a player. I learned about stats and gear and specs and I became a survival hunter who was adept at CC (crowd control) . Some how thru the course of BC my little alt priest became our top healer and the guild master and I also had a pally tank who was decently geared with T6 and badge gear.
Our little guild has grown into a decently sized guild who was in the top 10 raiding guilds on our server. I have leveled 4 soon to be 5 characters to 80 and raided with each one. I consider myself to be an expert on everything WoW and I would like to offer my assistance to the anyone who cares to leave there questions on my Blog.
